A Little Britain sketch from 2003 has been described as "explicitly racist and outdated" by TV watchdog Ofcom. In the sketch, David Walliams' character uses racist language to describe an Asian character.
Ofcom conducted a study into views on potentially offensive content, showing clips to 115 participants. While a few found the sketch funny, most considered it offensive and were surprised it was available on BBC iPlayer.
The BBC defended the sketch, stating it aimed to expose and ridicule outdated prejudices and racism in society. However, participants in the study felt that society had moved beyond such content.
