Welsh police officer Lewis Edwards has been sentenced to life in prison for blackmailing and coercing over 200 underage girls into sending explicit photos on Snapchat. Edwards admitted to 160 counts of child sexual abuse and blackmail.
He targeted girls aged 10 to 16 between November 2020 and February 2023, using a fake profile and threats to obtain explicit images. Edwards received life sentences with a minimum term of 12 years and an indefinite sexual harm prevention order.
His actions harmed the reputation of South Wales Police, and Snapchat expressed its commitment to preventing such abuse, while the NSPCC found the case deeply concerning.
