Leeds Bradford Airport (LBA) reopening after a plane skidded off the runway during Storm Babet. The incident involved a TUI flight from Corfu that veered off the runway during a landing in heavy rain and wind on Friday afternoon. Passengers were evacuated, and the airport was closed to facilitate the recovery of the aircraft. LBA reopened at 11:30 BST, but it warned of continuing disruptions due to the storm's impact.

The airport's team and partners worked tirelessly to recover the aircraft amid challenging weather conditions. TUI customers scheduled to travel from LBA on Saturday morning were redirected to Manchester. The airline is cooperating with the Air Accidents Investigation Branch for the investigation.

Storm Babet caused ongoing adverse weather conditions in various parts of the UK, including high winds, heavy rain, and widespread flooding. Passengers at LBA faced canceled flights, queues for transportation, and diversions to other airports, leading to inconvenience and delays for travelers.
