A TUI flight from Corfu skidded off the runway at Leeds Bradford Airport during wet and windy conditions due to Storm Babet. Fortunately, all passengers were safely evacuated, and firefighters were on the scene. The airport was closed, and efforts are underway to resolve the situation.
TUI has apologized for the incident and ensured that there were no reported injuries. Passengers scheduled for Friday departures were taken to Manchester Airport to continue their journeys. Flights for Saturday remained on schedule, and TUI is cooperating with the Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB).
Eyewitnesses described the landing as "interesting," with the plane overshooting the runway and getting stuck on the grass. Travelers arriving at Leeds Bradford Airport experienced cancellations and delays, with some diverted to other airports and taking coaches to their final destinations.
