Johnson, who is currently engaging in media interviews to promote his new memoir, agreed with the decision.

Despite the mix-up, Kuenssberg expressed her commitment to honesty and looked forward to her regular political programme on Sunday.

The BBC adapted its Thursday schedule, reinstating EastEnders to its usual time slot, and confirmed that Johnson is still set to be interviewed by BBC journalist Matt Chorley on 5 Live next Tuesday.
