During the same conference, the grim situation in Gaza was reviewed with little optimism for a lasting peace between Israel and Hamas. Qatar's PM noted the urgency of the crisis, especially with Ramadan approaching.
The Gaza conflict, which began with a major attack by Hamas on October 7, has resulted in significant casualties on both sides and a humanitarian crisis, with talks of a truce offering a glimmer of hope.
Ukrainian concerns also encompass future Western aid, as the U.S. Congress debates a substantial military support package. However, U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris reassured that internal politics would not deter American backing for Ukraine.
Concurrently, the prospects for Middle East peace were addressed by U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken, who mentioned a historic opportunity for Arab-Israeli normalization if the Gaza conflict is resolved. Israeli President Isaac Herzog argued that Saudi Arabia normalizing relations with Israel would signify triumph over Hamas's objectives.
