Labour Promises Communities the Right to Revamp Derelict Spaces
Under a Labour government, local communities could gain the right to buy and transform derelict areas into parks. Labour plans include creating new national forests, banning bee-killing pesticides, and restoring wetlands, aiming to recover nature by 2030. Shadow Environment Secretary Steve Reed emphasized these efforts as a part of national pride.
The plans include creating three new national forests, banning bee-killing pesticides, and restoring wetlands and peat bogs.
Labour aims to meet the UK’s targets for nature recovery by 2030 and give people greater access to nature through new river pathways.
Although some campaign groups believe these measures are insufficient, they are broadly welcomed by green and heritage organizations.
Labour also pledges to assist farmers in adopting environmentally regenerative practices.
