Sir Keir Starmer, the leader of the Labour Party, has not committed to accepting recommendations from public sector pay review bodies (PRBs) for the coming year.

The PRBs recommend wage rises for the public sector, but Starmer has indicated that he will not accept the recommendations if his party wins the next election.

The Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak, has also hinted that he might block the recommendations due to inflation.

The NHS and education are expected to be among the sectors to receive pay rises, but the proposed figure could be around 6% for the health service and 6.5% for teachers.

Starmer blames the Conservative Party for the "real squeeze" on workers' wages and the damage to the economy.
