Labour Finalizes Election Manifesto Ahead of June Launch
Labour has finalized its election manifesto, although the Unite trade union refused to endorse it, citing disagreements on key issues. Approved in a secretive meeting, the manifesto includes pledges on the economy, NHS, energy, education, and planning reform. Key commitments include creating GB Energy, additional NHS appointments, and recognizing a Palestinian state.

The manifesto, approved in a secretive 'clause V' meeting attended by the shadow cabinet, union representatives, and the national executive committee, addresses five core missions: economy, NHS, energy, education, and planning reform.
Key pledges include creating GB Energy, 40,000 additional NHS appointments weekly, and recruiting 6,500 new teachers.
Labour also commits to recognizing a Palestinian state in the manifesto.
Unite's general secretary, Sharon Graham, cited concerns over Labour's stance on fire and rehire practices, zero-hours contracts, and oil and gas licenses.
Protests interrupted the central London meeting, which lasted six and a half hours.
Labour’s spokesperson emphasized the manifesto's aim to bring change on 4 July.
While some are excited, leftwing group Momentum critiqued the absence of commitments to free school meals and scrapping the two-child benefit cap.
