King Charles Resumes Public Duties with Cancer Treatment: First Engagement at a Cancer Center, June State Visit with Japan
King Charles is resuming some public duties while undergoing cancer treatment.
Doctors have given the go-ahead for him to return, and his first engagement will be a visit to a cancer treatment center with Queen Camilla on 30 April.
The King had previously stopped most of his public engagements after being diagnosed with cancer on 6 February.
The type of cancer and further details about his health are not being disclosed by the Palace.
The King, who was previously treated for prostate enlargement, was diagnosed with cancer but it was not prostate cancer.
He is currently undergoing treatment and will not be carrying out a full summer program of engagements.
The pace of his return will be gradual and carefully calibrated.
The first public-facing duty he will carry out is a visit to a cancer treatment center with his wife.
The length of his treatment is uncertain, but his doctors remain positive about his continued recovery.
The King and Queen of the United Kingdom will host the Emperor and Empress of Japan for a state visit in June.
King Charles's public engagements will be announced closer to the time and will depend on his doctors' advice.
He will be able to meet people both indoors and outdoors, and any upcoming events will be adapted to minimize risks to his recovery.
The King's attendance at key summer events, including Trooping the Colour, D-Day commemorations, garden parties, and Royal Ascot, has not been confirmed yet.
