King Charles in Recovery After Surgery, No Royal Duties for a Month, Reports Suggest
King Charles III is recuperating following a surgery for an enlarged prostate and will pause royal engagements for a month, according to reports.
The 75-year-old monarch, who was admitted to The London Clinic last Friday, is reported to be recovering well.
Queen Camilla has visited him and conveyed his good condition, mirroring reports that he's also met with his daughter-in-law, the Princess of Wales, who is herself recovering from an operation in the same hospital.
While Charles will take a rest to recuperate, he remains involved with state affairs and intends to manage government documents as soon as he is able. His last official duties were conducted in private the day before his hospitalization.
Having ascended the throne 16 months prior, the King had to cancel prior engagements upon his doctors' advice. His condition was first identified on January 17 in Aberdeenshire, which prompted him to urge others to seek medical check-ups for similar symptoms. Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has extended wishes for a swift recovery.
