King Charles Meets with Injured Police Officer During Hillsborough Castle Garden Party
King Charles held a private meeting with Det Ch Insp John Caldwell, a police officer who was seriously injured in an attack by two gunmen, at a garden party at Hillsborough Castle.
The Queen also spoke with Caldwell during the event, which was the royal couple's first official visit outside England since the coronation.
Caldwell was injured while coaching a youth football team off-duty, and police believe dissident republicans may have been involved in the attack.
The shooting was widely condemned, and DUP leader Sir Jeffrey Donaldson was among the guests at the garden party.
The King and Queen also visited a newly-created Coronation Garden in Newtownabbey during their trip.
