The monarch continues his Coronation Food Project with new initiatives in London and Merseyside
On his 76th birthday, King Charles III focused on expanding the Coronation Food Project by inaugurating two new surplus food hubs aimed at combating food waste.
The first hub opening took place in south London, and a virtual ceremony was held for another on Merseyside.
These efforts are designed to channel surplus food from sources like supermarkets and the catering industry to food banks, schools, and community centers.
Since its inception on King Charles's birthday last year, the Project has saved approximately 940 tonnes of food, equivalent to 2.2 million meals.
Aside from his charitable work, the King attended the premiere of Gladiator II earlier in the week, where he was seen mingling with key figures from the film industry.
His wife, Queen Camilla, is recovering from a chest infection and did not attend the event.
Despite ongoing cancer treatment, King Charles remains committed to his royal duties, holding the distinction of being the sixth longest-living British monarch.
