London Bridges Come to a Standstill as Environmental Activists Protest Oil Development
The Just Stop Oil group caused disruption at four major bridges in London on Tuesday afternoon.
The group is protesting against the development of new oil and gas extraction projects, which they believe is putting lives at risk and threatening the environment.
The Metropolitan Police moved the protesters off the bridges and issued section 12 conditions to the protesters at Tower Bridge.
The group said 68 supporters participated in the protest, slowing traffic to a crawl at 4:15pm.
The tactic of "slow marching" on the roads of London has cost the Metropolitan Police more than £3.5 million in the past week.
Some motorists have reacted angrily to the protests and have been filmed shoving protesters out of the road.
