Former European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker has criticized current EU leadership for what he describes as a slow and ineffective response to escalating trade tensions with the United States.

Speaking publicly, Juncker argued that stronger personal engagement with former President Donald Trump might have averted the worst effects of the ongoing tariff disputes, which have strained transatlantic relations and disrupted European industry.
