An unemployed man, Luke McDonagh, escaped jail with a £120 fine after losing control of a £180,000 Ferrari, flipping it into a ditch near junction 10 on the M56 near Lymm, Cheshire. McDonagh, 25, was not insured to drive the rental Ferrari, which he took over driving because the original driver became unwell following a trip from London.
He drove at a high speed, swerved to avoid another car, and undertook a third car before skidding and crashing into a ditch, tipping the Ferrari onto its side. McDonagh was not insured to drive the rental vehicle, and he had a previous conviction for driving while disqualified. He was fined £120, banned from driving for six months, and ordered to pay £168 in costs and a victim surcharge.
