Jabs Will Be Administered On St. John For BVI Residents As Early As Next Week
As early as next week, residents of the British Virgin Islands desirous of accepting jabs from the US Virgin Islands will be able to do so on St. John.
Minister for Health and Social Development Hon. Carvin Malone made the announcement last night on the VIP Let’s Talk.
He said persons can begin calling to reserve their spots later this week.
“I understand that it is only Pfizer and Johnson and Johnson [vaccines] that would be made available,” he said.
He cadded, “The US Virgin Islands Government were kind and gracious to us, and one of the agencies have been put at our disposal where they have agreed that at a site in St. Johns would be able to move persons from West End over to St. John; they would have the vaccines there.”
The Health Minister further informed that the necessary protocols for the aforementioned are being finalized by the Chief Medical Officer.
Meanwhile, Hon. Malone said children would be the first to receive their jabs.
“The persons who are 12 to 18 years old, once they are accompanied by a parent or a guardian, they would be able to take advantage of this first. Those persons who are above 18 and they now have chosen to take either the Pfizer or the Johnson and Johnson; they will then be on the second batch.”
He said plans are underway to have the first trip next week, “either Monday or Tuesday,” and there will be other scheduled trips that will be announced.
