Israeli Army Chief Asserts Defense of Safety Amid Gaza Conflict

The chief also highlighted the ongoing efforts to release hostages held by Hamas, with military pressure being seen as essential for their freedom. As the conflict reaches its 100-day mark, Halevi mentioned the covert operations underway to retrieve all captives and underlined the necessity of maintaining operations in Gaza to achieve lasting peace.

On October 7, Palestinian militants captured around 250 individuals, with Israel reporting that 132, including presumed fatalities, still remain in Gaza. Despite a brief truce in November leading to the release of over 100 hostages, the status of the remaining captives is uncertain.
