Israel Advises Fans to Skip France Match After Amsterdam Violence

Heightened Security Concerns Lead to Warning for Supporters

Israeli officials have advised fans to avoid attending the upcoming France-Israel soccer match due to fears of potential violence similar to that seen in Amsterdam.

This comes after clashes followed a Europa League match between Israeli club Maccabi Tel Aviv and Dutch team Ajax, resulting in over 60 arrests and numerous injuries.

The violence, deemed 'anti-Semitic' by leaders from Israel, the US, and Europe, has sparked concern over the Nations League fixture in Paris, which will see a heavy deployment of 4,000 gendarmes for security.

Paris police chief Laurent Nunez described the security arrangements as 'highly unusual,' particularly with the attendance of French President Emmanuel Macron, who aims to show solidarity amidst rising anti-Semitic acts.

In response to threats identified in various European cities, Israel's National Security Council advised fans to avoid visibly displaying Israeli or Jewish symbols.

Right-wing Jewish group Betar plans to hold a protest against anti-Semitism before the match, and concerns persist about potential unrest at related events.
