This marked the first-ever attack on Israeli territory by Iran.
The text reports that around 170 drones, 30 cruise missiles, and 120 ballistic missiles were launched at Israel by Iran, but 99% of them were intercepted before reaching Israeli territory with the help of the US, Jordan, Britain, and other allies.
The Israeli military has a crucial Iron Dome air defense system in place, which has been intercepting rockets since 2011.
The IDF shared operational footage of the aerial defense system protecting Israeli airspace on social media.
The Iron Dome is a crucial component of Israel's missile defense systems, shielding cities from short-range rocket attacks originating in Gaza and Lebanon during the Israel-Hamas conflict.
With a range of up to 70 kilometers, it intercepts short-range projectiles.
Israel also utilizes other defense systems, such as Arrow for countering ballistic missiles and David's Sling for medium-range rocket or missile threats.
