The IOPC emphasized the importance of conducting a thorough investigation when a death occurs following police custody.
Their Director, Amanda Rowe, expressed condolences to the man's family and stated that the agency is actively engaging with them to keep them informed throughout the investigation process.
At this time, the IOPC has noted that the investigation is still in its early stages, and no additional information has been released.
