Investigation Underway Following Death of Woman in Croydon
Police Identify Victim and Charge Suspect in Connection with Incident
Authorities have named the 31-year-old woman found dead at a Croydon residence as Jamelatu Tsiwah.
Emergency services were alerted to the scene on Bensham Lane at approximately 7 PM on Monday, responding to reports of an unresponsive woman.
Despite their efforts, Ms. Tsiwah was pronounced deceased at the location.
A subsequent post-mortem examination identified neck compression as the cause of death.
Specialist officers are currently supporting Ms. Tsiwah's family, who have been informed of the developments in the case.
On Wednesday, Larry Nimoh, aged 21 and of no fixed address, was charged with murder and attempted murder concerning the incident.
In addition to these charges, the Metropolitan Police revealed that a second individual, also 21, had been arrested on suspicion of murder but has since been released on bail pending further investigation.
Detective Chief Inspector Alex Gammampila, leading the investigation, acknowledged the community's cooperation as they continue inquiries into the events of Monday evening.
Inquiry encouragement remains ongoing, with a call for potential witnesses to report any relevant observations from the vicinity of Bensham Road between 6 PM and 7 PM on the day in question.
Specifically, detectives are interested in any sightings of suspicious activity or individuals fleeing the property on Bensham Lane.
