British Transport Police (BTP) have launched an investigation after a Transport for London (TfL) employee was assaulted at Edgware Road Tube station.

The incident occurred on the Bakerloo line at approximately 4:30 PM on December 13, when the staff member challenged a passenger for not having a valid ticket.

The victim reportedly confronted the individual after observing them pass through the station’s barrier without purchasing a ticket, resulting in the staff member being punched multiple times and pushed to the ground.

Following the incident, BTP have released an image of a man they wish to speak with, as they believe he may possess information critical to the ongoing inquiry.

The police are appealing to the public to help identify the individual pictured.

Members of the public with information are encouraged to contact the British Transport Police.

They can do so by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40, using the reference number 482 of December 13. Alternatively, individuals with information can remain anonymous by contacting Crimestoppers at 0800 555 111.

The BTP has not provided further details regarding the condition of the victim but continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the assault.

This incident highlights ongoing challenges faced by TfL staff as they enforce ticket compliance across the transport network.
