Huw Edwards' Resignation: Clive Myrie and Reeta Chakrabarti as Top Contenders for BBC News at Ten

Huw Edwards has resigned as the presenter of BBC News at Ten, initiating the search for his replacement.
Clive Myrie and Reeta Chakrabarti are the frontrunners for the position, having frequently filled in since Edwards' suspension last year.

The BBC may choose to appoint one main presenter instead of sharing the role.

The Times analyzed BBC News at Six and News at Ten programs between July and December 2021 and found that Huw Edwards (Chakrabarti) presented 72 bulletins, while Emily Maitlis (Myrie) presented 69.

The BBC reported that Myrie earned between £285,000 and £289,000 last year, while Chakrabarti received between £215,000 and £219,000.

Sophie Raworth, who made £365,000-£369,999, presented 64 bulletins, and Jane Hill, whose salary was undisclosed, presented 21.

Fiona Bruce, who earned between £395,000 and £399,999, presented 12 bulletins.

Three BBC broadcasters, Raworth (interim presenter of BBC One's Sunday Morning), Hill (main presenter of BBC News at One and Five, and occasional Radio 4's The World Tonight), and Bruce (host of Question Time, Antiques Roadshow, and Fake Or Fortune), have notable presenting roles.

Myrie is favored to replace the current election night anchor.
