Hugh Grant Settles Privacy Case Against Rupert Murdoch's Tabloid for 'Enormous Sum', Avoiding Millions in Legal Fees

Actor Hugh Grant reached a settlement with Rupert Murdoch's News Group Newspapers (NGN) over allegations of unlawful information gathering, avoiding a potential legal bill of millions.
Grant received a large sum of money to drop the case, but details were not disclosed.

Prince Harry and other claimants continue their legal action against NGN over similar allegations.

Harry Grant, a 63-year-old actor, had planned to go to trial against a UK newspaper publisher in January, but he has since decided to settle out of court due to potential costs of up to £10 million ($12 million) under civil litigation rules.

Grant, who is one of several individuals bringing legal action against UK newspaper publishers, accused Mirror Group Newspapers and the publisher of the Daily Mail of making large settlement offers to keep the matters out of court.

His youngest son, Prince Harry, also recently settled a long-running claim against Mirror Group Newspapers and is bringing legal action against the Daily Mail publisher.

The text is about a star who refuses to accept a settlement offer from NGN due to allegations of unlawful behavior by their journalists and private investigators for The Sun tabloid.

However, if the star loses the trial and receives damages less than the settlement offer, they would have to pay both sides' legal costs.

The star is hesitant to proceed with the trial due to this risk, as advised by their lawyers.
