House Foreign Affairs Chairman Demands Transparency in Investigation of US Envoy for Iran's Security Clearance

The Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, Michael McCaul, has written to Secretary of State Antony Blinken requesting details about an investigation into the security clearance of the US envoy for Iran, Rob Malley.

The investigation is reportedly related to the alleged mishandling of classified documents.

Malley was placed on unpaid leave after his security clearance was suspended.

McCaul has asked for a full and transparent accounting of the circumstances surrounding the clearance suspension and investigation.

Acting Special Envoy for Iran Abram Paley and National Security Council Coordinator for the Middle East and North Africa Brett McGurk have been asked to testify and provide classified briefings to the Committee by the end of July.
