Parts of Hampshire and the Isle of Wight have experienced severe flooding due to heavy rainfall, leading to impassable roads and disruptions in train services. An amber warning issued by the Met Office covered areas around Southampton, Portsmouth, and the Isle of Wight.
The Isle of Wight, which saw up to 80mm of rain forecast, was particularly affected, with four flood warnings in place. Some motorists were stranded, and the Island Line Railway was flooded, causing service disruptions. The Environment Agency urged people to check their flood risk and cautioned against driving through floodwater.
