The letter read, “Quite recently, there has been an increase in gun violence here in the territory of the Virgin Islands. This is heartless, senseless and is slowly becoming a national disgrace to our beautiful Virgin Islands where we should be maintaining BVI Love.

The BVI Christian Council sends condolences to the family of the victim who lost their loved one to gun violence last Sunday, April 18, 2021. May they find comfort and strength in this time of bereavement.

We, as the “Watchdog of our Territory and the Conscience of the Community” condemn, in the strongest way possible, all forms of violence and barbaric acts which is becoming a mental health crisis and this therefore, demands a proactive effort to address root causes. Our plead to the citizens of these beautiful Virgin Islands is to stop the crime and turn to God. We pray that Almighty God brings healing to our land as we call upon the Righteous Intercessors to arise in prayer and fasting for our land. May the God of Peace rule over these beautiful Virgin Islands.”
