Addressing the media outside court, the 21-year-old emphasized remembering who the true adversaries are in the fight against climate change.

While executives from the oil industry convened within the InterContinental Hotel for the Energy Intelligence Forum, Thunberg and her co-activists were accused under the Public Order Act 1986 of obstructing the hotel entrance.

Thunberg, together with representatives from Fossil Free London and Greenpeace, pled not guilty. She highlighted the broader oppression of activists globally and the moral obligation to protect the environment for future generations.

Police gave Thunberg a final warning before arresting her, demonstrating their inability to permit access to the hotel. Despite the police enforcing a condition allowing the protest to continue nearby, Thunberg chose to remain and was detained.

In court, Thunberg took diligent notes. Outside, protesters displayed solidarity, advocating for the right to peaceful protest. Amnesty International UK criticized the policing tactics, asserting that Thunberg's non-violent demonstrations should be celebrated, not criminalized.
