Google has removed a game called "Slavery Simulator" from its online store in Brazil due to criticism from figures in the country who believe the game promotes racism and hatred.

The game allows players to trade and torture enslaved people, and remains playable for those who have downloaded it.

The Brazilian government has contacted the game's developer and Google to implement measures to restrict racist content online and is considering proposals to require social media companies to moderate their platforms.

Brazil is the last country in the Americas to have abolished slavery, which it did in 1888.
