Gender Pay Gap for Women in Their 50s Set to Take until 2050 to Close, Says Labour Party

The Labour party has claimed that the gender pay gap for women in their 50s will not close before 2050, based on an analysis of equal pay for women.

The analysis shows that the gender pay gap for women in their 50s is highest at 11.7% and has only closed by 5.1 percentage points since 2010.

The party argues that this is an abandonment of a whole generation of working women and has pledged to take action to close the gender pay gap, including policies such as menopause action plans and a formal review into the gender pay gap led by Frances O'Grady.

The government has said it has taken action to support women at work, including new measures on childcare and allowing people to seek flexible working, but has urged organizations to ensure female employees reach their full potential.
