The Metropolitan Police in London has reported a significant increase in hate crimes during the Israel-Gaza conflict. Antisemitic hate crimes have risen sharply, with 408 offenses recorded this month compared to 28 during the same period last year.

Similarly, Islamophobic hate crimes have increased from 65 offenses in October last year to 174 this month. The police have made 75 arrests related to the conflict and are investigating 10 potential breaches of terrorism laws.

There is also concern that domestic hate crimes and radicalization may be fueled by events in the Middle East. A large pro-Palestinian protest is expected in London, and the police are taking measures to ensure it is policed within the boundaries of the law.

They have not disclosed specific actions regarding individuals advocating jihad during the protest but emphasized cooperation with counter-terrorism colleagues.

Additionally, the police are investigating potential crimes linked to online posts and seeking information about individuals displaying support for proscribed terrorist organizations like Hamas during protests.
