Gasoline price will go up 11 cents per gallon and diesel down 12 cents on May 8
95 octane and 91 octane gasoline will increase 11 cents per gallon starting this Friday, May 8 and until May 22, while low-sulfur diesel will decrease 12 hundredths of a gallon, the National Energy Secretariat reported.
On average 95 and 91 octane gasoline will be sold in the cities of Panama and Colón at 50 cents per liter (increase of 2.9 cents), while diesel will cost 40 cents per liter (decrease of 3.2 cents).
Although oil futures fell sharply a few weeks ago, in recent days it has recovered. The WTI barrel for June delivery gained $4.17 and hit $24.56 a barrel on Tuesday. Meanwhile, North Sea Brent for July delivery rose 14% to $30.97 in London.
After the quarantine approval, the sale of fuel in Panama has decreased between 60% and 70%, even some gasoline stations have had to temporarily close due to the confinement of the population that limits the circulation of vehicles and people. The only sector that has been able to take advantage of low fuel prices has been logistics services for the transport of cargo and goods.
