Four RVIPF Officers Complete Bodyguard Training

Close protection training provides persons in the security field with the training needed to provide bodyguard services to important individuals, and as of last week, it was announced that four officers from the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force successfully completed such course in Bermuda.
In an article posted by bernews.com, it was mentioned that the four BVI police offices completed the course with four officers from that sister Overseas Territory.

According to a spokesperson from the Bermuda Police Service (BPS), the officers successfully completed the programme, which spanned four and a half weeks, on October 11. The training was said to have been facilitated by the BPS.

The four BVI officers included two females. In fact, it was noted that this was the first time that the Bermuda training programme received overseas female participants.

“Similar to the last course held back in July of this year, four officers [two men and two women] from the British Virgin Islands were invited to attend. However, this marks the first time that female officers from overseas have taken part in this training course. The four local officers included 3 men and one woman,” the article stated.

Steve Corbishley, the Commissioner of the Bermuda Police Service said, “Close protection is a specialist capability that the BPS are experts in the field of delivering training. The tactic allows us to protect VIPs and other high-profile individuals when undertaking public duties and demonstrates the BPS is a highly capable police service to manage all situations.”

“Additionally, I am pleased to support colleagues from the British Virgin Islands who received training to take back to their police service and this forms an important step forward for Bermuda to become the regional training centre for specialised police training across the Overseas territories and wider Caribbean police forces, a programme of work we are engaging with the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office [FCO] and the Ministry of National Security to take forward,” he added.
