In response, Home Office Minister Chris Philp defended the government's record, stating that more money is being spent on the NHS than ever before.
Dr Poulter, who works part-time as a consultant psychiatrist, argued that the NHS is now "unrecognizable" from a decade ago and that Labour could be trusted to improve it due to their past record.
In response to Dr Dan Poulter's resignation from the Conservative Party over concerns about the NHS, Chris Philp, a Conservative MP, defended the party's commitment to the NHS.
He stated that the NHS currently receives £165bn in annual funding, a record high, and this investment is a priority for the Conservatives, not a sign of de-prioritization.
Mr. Philp also argued that waiting lists in the NHS are decreasing despite pandemic challenges and strike action.
Dr. Poulter, who resigned, expressed no ill will towards Prime Minister Rishi Sunak but had criticisms about the direction of the Conservative Party.
A Tory Party representative has commented that the Conservative Party is becoming more like a nationalist party instead of a center-right party.
This is the third defection from the Conservatives since 2019, with Lee Anderson joining Reform and Christian Wakeford leaving for the Labour Party in 2022.
