The police are investigating five accusations of non-recent sexual offenses that are alleged to have taken place in London between 1982 and 2016.
Detectives interviewed a 65-year-old man under caution on three separate occasions this year, but no arrest has been made.
The development comes after multiple allegations of serious sexual misconduct and abuse were made against Westwood by 18 women in April 2022.
The women accused him of predatory and unwanted sexual behavior, touching, and abusing his position in the music industry.
Some of the women were underage at the time of the alleged incidents.
Westwood stepped down from his radio show on Capital Xtra in April 2021, following the allegations.
An external report, conducted by KC Gemma White, is due to be published this year and will examine what the BBC knew about Westwood's conduct during his nearly 20-year employment with the corporation.
Westwood has denied all the allegations against him.
BBC News has attempted to contact him for comment, but has been unsuccessful.
