Water levels in Downpatrick remained high, impacting approximately 25 businesses. Pumping efforts to clear the flooded areas were scheduled to begin on Friday evening. Conditions in Portadown were expected to improve as the River Bann's levels fell.
Businesses, including the Downpatrick and County Down railway museum, reported significant damage. A recovery sub-group was established to engage with affected businesses and explore financial support options. The Department for Communities is offering emergency £1,000 payments to flooded domestic properties, and an approach will be made to the UK government for financial assistance for impacted businesses.
The flooding in October 2023 in Armagh marked the wettest month on record since records began in 1838. Numerous homes in County Armagh's Portadown area were also damaged by flooding, causing road closures and transportation disruptions.
