The five largest political parties in Northern Ireland have written to the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, Chris Heaton-Harris, calling for Treasury funds for an emergency relief scheme.

Shadow Northern Ireland Secretary Hilary Benn has compared the flooding to support given to people in England after Storm Babet, stating that the current government support is inadequate.

Businesses are facing costs related to damaged premises, stock, fixtures, fittings, and loss of turnover.
