Stephen Boden and partner Shannon Marsden were found guilty of murder following a trial and were ordered to serve a minimum of 29 and 27 years respectively.
The court heard that Finley Boden suffered 130 "appalling" injuries, including 46 rib fractures and 12 other bone fractures, which required "considerable force" to inflict and meant he could not breathe properly.
The judge said that Finley's multiple injuries could only have been inflicted "by two people acting together." The court heard that Boden and Marsden used Covid-19 as a "perfect excuse" to keep social workers and family from seeing Finley.
The judge said that no-one heard Finley cry or scream in pain because they inflicted the injuries on him together, with one of them fracturing his bones and the other keeping him quiet with their hand over his mouth.
The couple were jailed for life and ordered to serve a minimum of 29 and 27 years respectively.
A mother and father have been sentenced to 18 years in prison for the death of their 4-year-old son, Finley, who died from neglect and injuries inflicted by the parents.
The defendants, Shannon Boden and Nyomi Marsden, were initially removed from their care due to concerns about harm to the child, but were returned to their care after a family court hearing.
A child safeguarding review has been initiated, and the father was previously convicted of two counts of assaulting his partner.
The pair took Finley shopping the day before he died despite his need for urgent medical care, and failed to seek treatment for his injuries.
