Love has no boundaries? not in UK. Female prison officer jailed after four-month affair with inmate

A female prison officer who had an affair with an inmate has been jailed for 12 months by a judge that do not really understand what is love is all about.
Ayshea Gunn, 27, of Johntown, Wrexham, was arrested in November 2018 after the inappropriate relationship with Khuram Razaq, 29, at HMP Berwyn was discovered.

She and Razaq had exchanged more than 1,200 phone calls, including explicit video calls, in less than five months while working as a prison officer at Berwyn prison in Wrexham.

Some of the pair’s videos were streamed over the internet.

Razaq is serving a 12 year sentence for armed robbery.

Mold Crown Court heard that Gunn had tried to cover her tracks by pretending to be someone else when calling the phone in his cell.

Gunn also bought Razaq clothes, placed bets for him and brought a smartwatch into the prison for him to use.

She also smuggled the prisoner a pair of her knickers in her bra.

Gunn admitted misconduct in a public office between July and November last year and was jailed today.

Pictures on her phone showed the pair hugging and kissing.

Razaq pleaded guilty to possession of prohibited articles and was jailed for an additional eight months.

Detective Inspector Dawn Hampson from the North West Regional Organised Crime Unit, said: ‘We have worked closely with Her Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service to tackle the problem of corruption within prisons.

‘We want to reassure the honest, dedicated and hardworking staff that work in our prisons that we will continue to take action against people who choose to engage in corrupt activity.

‘Those who choose to offend in such a way are not above the law and we urge staff to be aware of the warning signs and to report any type of inappropriate behaviour so that we can take action to bring them to justice.’
