FCA Launches Investigation into Hedge Fund Odey Asset Management and Allegations of Sexual Misconduct

The City watchdog, the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), is investigating the hedge fund Odey Asset Management and its founder Crispin Odey, who faces renewed allegations of sexual misconduct.

The FCA is considering expanding an existing inquiry into corporate governance after a Financial Times report claimed that Odey had faced a string of complaints over his behavior over decades.

13 women have made allegations of sexual harassment or assault against him over a 25-year period.

Odey has strenuously denied the allegations.

JPMorgan and Morgan Stanley are reviewing their prime broking relationships with Odey Asset Management in the wake of the report.

Odey stepped down as co-CEO of Odey Asset Management during the COVID pandemic but remains a major shareholder.

He was cleared of indecent assault charges by a UK court in 2021.

The 64-year-old has been married three times and has three children.
