Her body was recovered shortly before a red rain warning was issued. In a statement released through Police Scotland, her family described Wendy as a beautiful, kind, funny, and caring person who was a "ray of sunshine" for everyone who knew her.

Wendy was survived by her husband, George, and was a mother to James, Sally, and Susanna, as well as a beloved granny to India and George. Her family expressed their heartbreak and gratitude for the support they received during this difficult time. Police confirmed there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding her death, and a report would be sent to the procurator fiscal.
