Hundreds of Extinction Rebellion protesters occupied the offices of 10 City of London insurance companies to demand they stop insuring the West Cumbria coalmine and East Africa Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP).

Demonstrators disrupted the offices' foyers and displayed banners with messages like "Don't Insure EACOP" and "Don't Insure West Cumbria Mine." Simultaneously, another group disrupted the offices of Total Energies, a major shareholder in EACOP.

The activists argue that financing fossil fuel projects is incompatible with a safe future and called on banks and insurers to sever their ties with these projects. The Metropolitan Police is being approached for comment on the protest.
