The investigation, named Operation Branchform, is looking into what happened to over £600,000 in donations given to the SNP by independence activists.

Ms. Sturgeon was arrested and released without charge, as was the former SNP chief executive, Peter Murrell, and the party's treasurer, Colin Beattie.

Ms. Sturgeon temporarily moved out of her home after her arrest, but has since returned.

She intends to go back to the Scottish Parliament this week.
