Gertrude Garrow, a former children's TV presenter known for starring on Ireland's 1980s children's show ‘Bosco’. She is now facing a legal bill of over £100,000 after a dispute with her neighbour, Gary Short, regarding the removal of a hedgerow next to her £1.3m home near Bracknell, Berkshire.
Garrow decided to bulldoze the hedge due to her annoyance with people using a public footpath near her property. She subsequently attempted to divert the path, believing it was in line with the true boundary between her and her neighbour's properties.
However, Short, her neighbour, disagreed about the boundary's location, claiming that Garrow was directing walkers onto his land. This disagreement led to both parties taking legal action against each other.
In 2020, Short installed a gate to prevent people from trespassing onto his land, which Garrow's workers subsequently removed. The feud reached London’s High Court, which ruled in favor of Short, confirming Garrow was in the wrong and had trespassed onto Short's land.
As a result of this ruling, Garrow has been ordered to pay a substantial legal bill, with a current sum of £100,000 in lawyers’ fees already decided upon.
