Hungarian Foreign Minister: Europeans will lose Europe, the Union's policy must change drastically
In order to protect the future of Europe, a drastic change in Brussels' migration policy is required, which should respect international law and not punish those who act according to it, said Hungarian Foreign Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade, Péter Szijjártó, in Madrid on Tuesday.

Last year, the number of migrants arriving in Spain increased by 82 percent compared to 2022, and in the Canary Islands area, there was a 6.5-fold increase compared to the same period last year.
Meanwhile, Hungary is also under increasing pressure, as authorities prevented 170,000 illegal border crossings last year.
The Foreign Minister emphasized that the countries protecting their borders are complying with international law and should not be punished for performing their duty.
According to him, international law is very clear that those who are forced to flee are entitled to temporarily stay in the first safe country they reach, but no one has the right to enter a second, third, or fourth safe country.
"So the European Union needs to respect international law, not to punish those who respect it, in order to ease the pressure of migration.".
