On Friday, a Russian missile strike on Kryvyi Rih resulted in the deaths of eighteen individuals, including nine children.

This attack occurred in the hometown of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and is part of a broader pattern of violence that has escalated in the region.

In the same incident, at least sixty-one others sustained injuries, with forty individuals, including two children, remaining hospitalized, two of whom are in critical condition.

Following the missile attack, President Zelensky emphasized the necessity for international pressure on Russia, stating, "We must not be afraid to pressure the one who continues this war and ignores all the world’s proposals to end it." He criticized the United States for a perceived lack of assertiveness in condemning Russian actions, particularly in a statement from US Ambassador to Ukraine Bridget Brink.

Ambassador Brink expressed her horror at the strike, noting that it occurred near a playground and restaurant.

Europe Minister Stephen Doughty described Russia’s actions as a "sobering reminder" of the ongoing conflict, referring to it as a "barbaric war" waged against Ukraine.

He extended thoughts to victims' families and reiterated that the UK government remains steadfast in its support for Ukraine.

In Kyiv, the head of the British armed forces met with President Zelensky, discussing security planning that includes over 200 military planners from thirty nations.

This gathering aims to bolster Ukraine's long-term security prospects.

Both British and French military leaders have committed to forming a coalition of nations prepared to assist Ukraine in ensuring its security, especially in light of a potential peace settlement with Russia.

President Zelensky expressed gratitude for international support and highlighted ongoing efforts toward establishing a partner security contingent aimed at fostering a durable peace in Ukraine.

He noted the significant progress achieved through collaborative efforts among allied nations in the pursuit of this objective.
