England’s women’s national football team has successfully defended their European crown, defeating Spain in a dramatic penalty shootout to win the UEFA Euro 2025 final.

The closely fought match, held in front of a sold-out crowd, capped a tournament that has driven an estimated £800 million boost for UK retailers, pubs, and broadcasters.

The win cements the Lionesses’ place at the pinnacle of European football and has sparked calls for a national celebration, including a potential new bank holiday.
