Niel, founder of the low-cost mobile provider Free, was reportedly light-hearted about Musk's remarks.
Niel's business history includes a legal dispute where he was initially charged but later cleared of accusations related to his adult industry ventures.
However, he did receive a suspended prison sentence for embezzlement related to those businesses.
This exchange comes as Niel was part of the advisory group consulted by French President Emmanuel Macron ahead of the AI summit.
The summit was marked by the announcement of a private-sector funded €109 billion strategy for artificial intelligence, with Niel's company, Iliad, contributing €3 billion to this initiative.
Musk, in contrast to Niel, opted not to attend the summit, citing his involvement in "critical work in Washington DC" but suggested the possibility of participating remotely.
Beyond the summit, Musk made headlines by proposing a $97.4 billion bid to acquire OpenAI, the nonprofit organization behind the ChatGPT AI chatbot.
This offer was subsequently rejected by Sam Altman, OpenAI's founder.
The developments reflect ongoing dynamics within the technology industry as it intersects with significant AI advancements and investments.
