He is suspected of masterminding the smuggling of thousands of people across the Mediterranean from Libya into Italy, with the help of people smuggling networks in north Africa.
The NCA alleges that Eibd was maintaining communication with criminal associates during the crossings and that several of the journeys led to search and rescue operations by Italian authorities.
The boats used for the crossings were described as "death traps." Eibd was arrested near his west London home and appeared in court on Saturday.
He will be held in custody until his next appearance at Southwark Crown Court in south London on July 24.
